A new Joint Knowledge Online course designed in cooperation with the Joint Irregular Warfare Center allows warfighters, civilians and contractors to learn about the nature of counterinsurgency.
The distance learning course allows users to interact with the course, to gain an understanding of COIN. Marty Vozzo, JKO deputy program manager, said that the training would benefit users at all levels.
“We view this as part of the joint training enterprise, where civil servants, contractors and service members, from E-1 to O-10, can get the important training that fits with the secretary of Defense’s training priorities.”

Navy Rear Adm. Michael H. I recently had the opportunity to chat with the admiral about his time here, the challenges facing his replacement and his thoughts on the present and future of joint medicine on the battlefield. EC 10: That’s a wrap
Posted by jlecappelain in intelligence, multinational, surveillance and reconnaissance on August 15th, 2010
After two long weeks, the team and I have gone our separate ways: MC2 Cassatt back to San Diego and Staff Sgt. Valentine and I back to the Virginia humidity.
Empire Challenge 10 was an interesting experience. It’s one thing to read about all these technologies, but seeing them working and communicating really help explain what it is we are doing here. It also showed me some things that will definitely benefit my Army brothers in future when they deploy.
We hope you’ve enjoyed our coverage of the event and I’m sure next year will be even bigger. An overview story about the event and its conclusion is up now. Check it out, there’s a lot of great information inside.
Thanks again for following along!

EC 10: Valiant Angel hits the mark
Posted by jlecappelain in intelligence, multinational, surveillance and reconnaissance on August 13th, 2010
As EC 10 winds down, the team and I traveled to visit USJFCOM’s Valiant Angel. Valiant Angel is a program being executed by the command’s Intelligence Directorate that improves access to and movement of large data files, including FMV and wide-area surveillance data across existing networks to warfighters at the tactical edge.
Andrew “AJ” Forysiak, Valiant Angel deputy program manager, talked to us about what Valiant Angel’s role in EC 10 is.
Valiant Angel is serving as the baseline architecture for moving FMV in this demonstration. We’re trying to replicate the environment in theater and share FMV with our coalition partners; Valiant Angel is performing that role.
