Command prepares to help 10th MTN DIV prepare for Afghanistan

We just posted a new story about the command’s J7 getting ready to facilitate some good training up at Fort Drum, N. Y.  in preparation for the 10th Mountain Division’s deployment to Afghanistan.

I transferred from Fort Drum last September. If I hadn’t, I’d be getting ready to go through this exercise as well.

After two deployments with the division, I understand what it is their about to go through with this MRX and hope the deployment goes well for the friends and colleagues I left behind.

Navy Capt. Dennis Mikeska, USJFCOM Joint Warfighting Center/Joint Training Directorate (J7) joint exercise chief, talked to me about the purpose of the exercise and what it will prepare the 10th Mtn. Div. soldiers for.

For the 10th Mountain Division, their commander (Army Maj. Gen. James Terry) and his staff, this exercise will appraise them of what is ongoing in theatre. We come together to create a realistic training environment for them of what’s going on.  We also turn the knob and project out what they might encounter during their deployment.
