EC 10 begins

Months and months of planning have culminated in the beginning of Empire Challenge 10, USJFCOM’s annual ISR demonstration.

At USJFCOM’s Suffolk campus, members of the Joint Systems Integration Center (JSIC) are assessing C2 systems interoperability with ISR systems while also supporting the demonstration’s main efforts at Fort Huachuca, Ariz.

Air Force Maj. Dan Shinohara, JSIC’s C2-ISR Interoperability Assessment project lead, said that JSIC’s effort in EC 10 is part of its Joint Systems Baseline Assessment 2010, a series of technical and operational interoperability assessments of current and transitional C2 and intelligence systems.

“Everything we do here utilizes Empire Challenge ISR data and it flows through C2 systems.  It’s that fusion between the two focus areas that is important going forward.”

My team and I are flying to Arizona this weekend, prepared to provide intense coverage of EC 10 from the ground there. Keep checking back here to view my stories and blogs, Air Force Staff Sgt. Vanessa Valentine’s fantastic photographic imagery and Navy MC2 Joshua Cassatt’s video features.
